IRL + CYBERTANK Art Bitch

June 10 at 7:00 PM

Grant proposals? MFA programs? Hot girl gallery opening IG Lives? She’s a ho for them all! (In a sex-positive way.) Painting may be dead, but Art Bitch’s complaints about “making it” are very much alive.

Really, this solo comedy thingy is a manifesto. She has to show her parents she’s still trying in order to keep their financial support; like artists in any age, she needs a good patron. How else can she complete her series of sorority crystal sculptures? Prototype to come; still in development. She just needs a new sketchbook, but she hasn’t found the PERFECT one yet. You get it. A digital mood board’s just as good; she just hasn’t decided on a URL yet. She’s putting a poll on Tumblr so check it out.

The Comfort Illusion

An over-educated, underachieving thirty-something earns a living stocking the snack room at a high-end hedge fund. The protagonist, named You, lives their life as if everything is disposable. Jumped one night by an extremist sect of eco-warriors, You awaken to the imminent catastrophe that awaits our planet. Slowly, You begin to build your moral code, at home and at work, but the more personal sacrifices You make for the sake of the planet, the more You become plagued by feelings of futility. Want to save the planet? Hold your breath.

"The Comfort Illusion" is a darkly comedic solo performance charting one person's descent into eco-psychosis. Created and performed by Nic Adams, and presented as a work-in-progress showing in collaboration with director Angel Desai and sound artist JU-EH.

"The Comfort Illusion" is a project of the City Artist Corps Grants program, presented by NYFA and the DCLA, with support from MOME as well as Queens Theatre.

Unstuck: A One Woman Show About Growing Up With OCD

TICKETS
$18

Ever been afraid to use the word 'delectable' in a sentence after JonBenet Ramsey said it the night before she was murdered in the JonBenet Ramsey Lifetime Original Movie? Ever have to shout 'Green car green car green car' every time a green car zooms down the street?

I'm gonna be real-- if you answered yes, you probably have OCD. Like me! Hi, I'm Olivia Levine and I suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. We've all heard about the hand washing, the touching, the counting. But most of us haven't heard the rest of it-- the fear of accidentally causing violent harm to a loved one or the fear that using a particular word might result in the death of your best friend. Killing people with your vagina germs! Accidentally impregnating your mother! The list goes on. If you’re curious, come join me as I use standup, storytelling and more to explore the evolution of my OCD and how it has engaged particularly with my sexuality and identity as a queer woman.

Written and performed by Olivia Levine
Directed by Molly Heller
