I Met You on TV, Doesn’t That Mean Something?
By Catherine Weingarten
Directed by Alex Tobey
Featuring: Stephanie Hinck, Irina Kaplan, and Nicky Knor

Two podcasters from a Bachelor type reality show vibe a bit too much while interviewing reality stars who think they have it all together. "..Mean Something?" explores and challenges the cost of performing being "in love" to the whole world, influencer culture and just how far people will go to prove they #care about mental health.

THE INFLUENCER PLAYS is a duo of plays from playwrights Catherine Weingarten & SMJ that explore the light and dark side of social media influencing in the 2020s. In Catherine Weingarten’s I Met You on TV, Doesn’t That Mean Something?, two podcasters from a Bachelor type reality show vibe a bit too much while interviewing reality stars who think they have it all together. In SMJ’s SWAY, three rising influencers are selected for an exclusive retreat at a remodeled Spahn Ranch hosted by a very popular reality star named Charlie. THE INFLUENCER PLAYS explore the cost of performing being “in love” in front of the whole world, influencer culture, and the exploitation of the need for human connection in an increasingly digital world.

Content Warnings: For SWAY, the reading will feature read stage directions that discuss explicit sex acts, torture, and cult violence.
