The Tank is thrilled to celebrate Pride month with the debut of “Postcards from the Rearview Mirror”; the latest one-woman musical by queer cabaret artist, Sabrina Chap, at the Tank on June 24th at 7 pm!
Part radio musical, part theatrical heartbreak, “Postcards from the Rearview Mirror” tells the story of two queer teens who escape the violence of their Florida homes for the bright lights of Hollywood.
Chap’s one woman show is a musical abstraction of queer heartbreak; combining video projections, audio playback and postcards home as monologues. A cross between PJ Harvey and Tegan & Sara, Chap’s songs are infused with desire, hope, revenge and heartbreak. The piece is visually scored with video projections by Anna Hovhannessian.
Postcards from the Rearview Mirror will be presented for one night only at the Tank at 312 W. 36th St. NY, 10018
and is presented in Conjunction with Tank-aret: a cabaret series for women, queer and trans artists, artists of color and differently abled artists.
Tank-aret is a monthly cabaret series now in its second year at The Tank. Curated by musical theater writing team EllaRose Chary and Brandon James Gwinn (Dramatists Guild Fellows; Ars Nova Uncharted Residents; Cotton Candy and Cocaine; TL;DR: Thelma Louise: Dyke Remix). Every month Tank-aret will feature an evening of exciting new work by artists not traditionally represented in cabaret and musical theater spaces. The intention is to lift up the voices of women, queer and trans artists, artists of color, differently abled artists, and anyone else who has some cabaret magic!
