It is the end of summer before 8th grade in some suburban town in some New England state. Elizabeth, wanna-be grunge teenager, and her (only slightly) cooler best friend, Scarlett, drink slurpees, flirt with guys on Omegle, and dream of the year ahead. As pressure both on and offline builds, Elizabeth must decide if she will sink or swim. Girls Online is a modern coming of age story that explores the complexity of growing up alongside the rise of social media, the high-stakes social dynamics of girlhood, and the early phases of exploring sexuality.
