Paris, 1860(ish). Aspiring painters Matt and Will are students at the cutthroat Académie des Beaux-Arts. They’ll be in the Louvre before they’re thirty! Well. One of them will. But that doesn’t matter yet. Right now, they can be friends. Performed with live drawing and painting, The Draw is an all-out brawl between two actors-slash-artists. Matt and Will—played by women and nonbinary performers, in drag—doodle, sketch, and speedpaint masterpieces for the great Paris Salon. The Draw explores artistic rivalry, the dynamics of model and muse, and when ‘making it’ feels like a zero-sum game.
