The Commonground is a series of monthly events for young and emerging artists across disciplines to meet their creative soulmates. We seek to eliminate barriers-to-entry and increase the breadth of exposure artists have to like-minded collaborators. Organized and led entirely by volunteers, The Commonground is free of charge for all attendees. We focus on “knowing the table you sit at, and the table you want to sit at" -- that is, sharpening your sense of self, your pitch, and what to look for in creative partners -- and putting yourself out there. After a brief group discussion and a few icebreaking exercises, the artists are split into 3 groups to participate in the centerpiece of the evening: a series of rapid-fire one-on-one networking meetings (à la speed dating).
