MONKEY NUTS is a filmed performance project inspired by a socialist folktale about a community of monkeys torn apart by greed, corruption, and hypocrisy of the caste system. It was created and filmed during the first NYC lockdown. The performance will be followed by an interactive mask-making workshop/Q+A led by Sophie Gorai and Nikolai Mishler, using recycled materials from your home! Make sure to save up some good cardboard, plastic wrappers, spare fabric, or literally any trash you like, plus scissors, tape/glue, and anything else you might want to use to make your mask. No experience necessary!

YES Theater is a collective dedicated to recycling the techniques of Japanese Noh Theater into contemporary multimedia performance, with the goal of highlighting socio-political issues such as Climate Justice and Distribution of Wealth, while using sustainable practices as a tool for creating.
