Set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, YUTE follows Jay and D, two young Black men navigating friendship, money, women, and the terrifying realization that growing up doesn't necessarily mean having it all figured out. What begins as an ordinary night of weed, video games, and reckless conversation quickly spirals into something neither of them is prepared to confront.
Funny, chaotic, and painfully honest, YUTE is a coming of age story about Black masculinity, the friendships that shape us, and what happens when the people who know us best finally see through the versions of ourselves we've worked so hard to create.
Content Warning: YUTE contains strong language, racial slurs, sexual references, depictions of drug and alcohol use, moments of physical violence, and discussions of grief and family conflict. The play also explores themes related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
