Writopia Lab Worldwide Plays Festival 2023: "Bravery MakeBelieve & Language"
June 10 at 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM & 4:00 PM
June 11 at 12:00 PM & 2:00 PM
Directors: Matthew Jellison and Daniel McCoy
Acclaimed Playwright Sarah Ruhl once wrote “Theatre is, at its roots, some very brave people mutually consenting to a make believe world, with nothing but language to rest on.” Now in our 14th year of the Writopia Lab Worldwide Plays Festival, our playwrights -- ages 8 -18 -- conjured who plays prompted only by a smattering of props and costumes--some blue plates, some russian dolls, some aluminum foil. Over the weekend of our festival of 31 staged readings, you'll laugh, you'll cry, your imagination will be cracked wide open with the power of the voices of this most startling and soulful generation of playwrights.
