The Passion According to Janair draws inspiration from Clarice Lispector's novel The Passion According to G.H. and Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man to create the story of Janair, a black maid in Rio de Janeiro who faces invisibility and finds empowerment in revealing the hypocrisy of her socially defined role.

As part of the development of the play, Group Dot BR and The Tank present the staged reading of the script’s latest development, and invite the audience for feedback and voice out their opinions and impressions

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, NYSCA-A.R.T./New York Creative Opportunity Fund (A Statewide Theatre Regrant Program) and Materials for the Arts.
