Sweet Tea: An Artist Salon is My Black Job Productions’ signature Southern-inspired gathering where music, theatre, and dance meet cultural strategy. This season features Lead Producing Artist David H. Parker, recipient of $3,500 plus line producing and development support for their new play FREAKZSHOW, alongside Producing Artists Grammy Award-Nominated Diovanna Obafunmilayo Frazier, Kyra Shaw-Davis, and Jessica Charles, each awarded $250 mini-grants plus producing and development support. The MBJ Producing artists participated in 29-hour readings produced by My Black Job Productions as part of Carlton V. Bell II’s (“cj”) capstone project in the Mellon Foundation-supported Producing Cohort at The Tank.
With a live performance by Jonathan Lykes, Sweet Tea is more than a show—it’s a space where artistry becomes a tool for liberation. Guests will step into a highly curated, intimate environment designed for connection, joy, and cultural activation, affirming that resourcing Black artists is essential to our collective future.
