Welcome to Reflection, Epheverie Theatre Co.’s Inaugural 2025 Short Play Festival! This festival invites audiences to turn inward—challenge perspectives, confront biases, and reexame self-concepts. Featuring six bold new works from a range of emerging voices, Reflection spans absurdist comedy to searing tales of loss—all grounded in a heightened reality. Each piece explores the transformative power of art to help us see what we’ve long avoided and encourages us to renew.
As a queer- and AAPI-led company, we are committed to producing work that is both thought-provoking and trailblazing—onstage and behind the scenes.
Program A (08/29/25 at 9:30pm and 08/30/25 at 3:00pm)
"Table for 2" - Dan Sandfelder
Two old friends spend their days eating brunch together. Table for 2 explores love, loss, the line of adultery, and what friendship really is.
"I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" - Cris Eli Blak
Grief-stricken after her son loses his life in an act of gang violence, a woman is made aware of a new artificial intelligence technology that allows people to speak to AI-holographic versions of lost loved ones. What starts as a way of mourning slowly becomes unhealthy when she forms an attachment to the AI version of her son, prompting those around her to decide whether to let her continue living in her delusion or drag her back into the pains of mourning.
"My Best Friend's Fish" - Kiley Gaddis
When Melanie takes a spur of the moment vacation, Henry is tasked with watching his best friend’s fish until she returns. As he occupies the space, he is forced to come to terms with the harmful nature of his longest and most affected friendship.
Program B (08/30/25 at 7:00pm and 08/31/25 at 3:00pm)
"Steps" - Max Koh
Inspired by Elaina Ellis' 25 Things. 5 people, maybe the same person, recite the steps it takes to end a life.
"Ella in Stardust" - Juice O'Rourke, Sammie Murray
Jo is back in their hometown, and as they sit in the planetarium of the local science museum, they remember a sleepover with their best friend Ella – after which, she was never seen again. On the passage of time, the universe, and life on earth and beyond – from the wells of understanding possessed by 13-year-old girls, lit by projections of stars.
"Is Anyone Watching This" - Rebecca Kane
Gabby is a normal American teenager, TikTok star with one hundred million followers, a Leo, a dancer, an influencer, and also the last human being in existence. #LikeAndSubscribe #HollerIfYouHearMe #BestieAreYouOutThere
