"Lovers of the Good" follows Jason, a fledgling youth pastor in suburban North Carolina whose world begins to fracture when a kid in his youth group comes out to him as nonbinary. Through a budding relationship with a Black, trans Rootworker named Levi, Jason finds himself torn between the dogmatic Christianity of his evangelical church and the potential of a faith far more expansive than he could ever have imagined.
