The ChoreoJoey Project
What happens after the applause ends? As the final bows fade and the theater empties, a cast and crew remains behind to dismantle what once felt larger than life. Set during the loadout and closure of a production, this new work from The Choreojoey Project follows performers, technicians, and lingering spectators as they pack away costumes, strike scenery, and reflect on the memories left behind in the theater. Using poetry and choreography, the piece moves through recollections of crowded stages, backstage rituals, favorite costumes, ghost lights, and final farewells.
Through poetry and movement, the production examines artistic labor, impermanence, and the growing decline in live event attendance. In the middle of discarded props, half-packed dressing rooms, and fading stage lights, the performers confront what it means to create work for Miss Rose. A world premiere for the Choreojoey Project's 12th season, choreographed and directed by Stephen Hill.
