IMGONNAWANNA
Saturday, November 22nd and Sunday, November 23rd

A botched surgery, a locked door, a Cranberries concert, and a third-grade superhero all collide in IMGONNAWANNA, a darkly funny solo show written, directed and performed by Jen Rowe (Night Always Comes, Grimm, The Librarians). Set in a crumbling Seattle hotel bathroom, this hour-long piece follows one woman’s sardonic, unflinching journey to escape the room she’s stuck in, the choices that put her there, and the fear she may never get out. After extensive development work in Los Angeles with renowned playwright/actor Lauren Weedman (Hacks, Abbott Elementary, Sirens), Jen blends story, character, poetry, movement, and song for this New York Premiere of IMGONNAWANNA: a raw, comedic meditation on resilience and the absurd ways we fight to stay free when no one is coming to save us.

What audiences are saying:
“A masterpiece of a solo show…”
“Layered and interwoven with hilarious, entertaining elements that seem superficial, but aren’t really. Bits of info that may not make sense yet – then lock into place as the story unfolds”
“Sardonically funny and incredibly well put together.”
“It reminded me of the mime Bill Bowers….”
“Jen moves beautifully and honestly… transitions, characters– all so memorable.”
“The effect was of a slightly manic stream-of-consciousness… wounded but tough, intermittently self-aware, and endearing.”
