"Holy Animals" is a dance and music performance inspired by the women of Dante's Divine Comedy. While Dante's female figures were rooted in real people, he often depicted them as either "virgins" or "whores," reflecting the gender norms of his time. This performance challenges that limited portrayal, offering a fresh interpretation of the classic tale and giving voice to the women who have been overlooked for over 700 years. Holy Animals combines larger-than-life projections, live music, and a fusion of modern and classical dance to bring to life the circles of Inferno, the terraces of Purgatorio, and the celestial spheres of Paradiso.
