GAL

Tue, Aug 12 @ 7PM

Director: Aria Mauel
Playwright: Katherine Humes
Safwa Ozair

In a big city gallery after dark, we meet Gal, a 20-something woman who models for her older, semi-successful photographer boyfriend Patrick by day and cleans the museum by night. When it is announced that the museum will be closing for renovations, and Gal’s boss hints she may lose her job, she gets another gig working as a figure model for an art class at a local university. In class, she encounters a mysterious elderly woman and fellow model who tells her that the world is going to end in seven days. Confronted by the loss of her future, Gal is forced to reexamine both her past and present. Based on that mythological character of Galatea, GAL is a one woman show that interrogates the female muse, the nature of being sculpted by men, and what it means to be an artist and woman simultaneously in a crumbling world.
