Examples of lingua Franca is a dark comedy set in a Catholic Church undergoing a spiritual rebrand. At its helm is father harplee, a priest with a penchant for quarterly growth targets and branded homilies, and his right hand, Sister Isabella, is a devout strategist fluent in corporate speak. Together, they’re on a mission to scale the church’s impact footprint, attract a new generation of families and then piety into a performance metric. Their plans are disrupted by the arrival of a couple seeking an annulment. Annie and Bernie arrive seeking a simple pastoral request and it spirals into a satire of faith and profit. As church becomes business and ritual becomes pitch deck the characters must confront what gets lost in translation and what was never sacred to begin with.
