Inspired by the relationships found in Roxane Gay’s collection of short stories “Difficult Women,” this show (created by KGDDance Founder Katya Danko) explores the female complexities within three of these stories: “I Will Follow You” (danced by Madeline Charles and Taylor Marie), “I am the Knife” (danced by Brittany Posas and Song Ravinan) and “Break all the way Down” (danced by Gabriela Vazquez). Within each story line we explore female identity and nature through the impossible situations and circumstances these characters have had to deal with. The key that links these stories together is one girl (dancer Bonnie Bushnell) who tries to understand her own identity while gaining inspiration from the women within these stories. She will be interwoven in the transitions between the story lines, trying to fit into the “types” of woman she should be. Only after she strips herself of this armor, is she able to free her true vulnerable messy self.
