The Game is a story about women living in the shadows of a world that was never built for them. Set against the spectacle of professional football, the play follows five women as they navigate love, friendship, ambition, and the quiet, often invisible labor of holding other people’s lives together while trying to hold onto their own.
What does it mean to be a woman in a world that asks you to be endlessly giving, endlessly forgiving, endlessly supportive? What happens to the dreams we put aside, the parts of ourselves we learn to make smaller, and the lives we imagine we might have lived? What happens when we ignore our health, silence our needs, and sacrifice pieces of ourselves for a game that was never ours to play? The Game explores the contradictions of womanhood, the expectations placed on women, and the complicated ways we find, lose, and reclaim ourselves through one another.
At a time when women’s autonomy, healthcare, and right to determine their own futures remain under threat, these questions feel impossible to separate from the world outside the theatre. The Game brings women’s experiences to the center, asking us to look beyond the spectacle and listen to the stories unfolding just out of view. It is a play about the cost of devotion, the power of solidarity, and what it means to refuse to disappear inside someone else’s story.
