Tears Upon Dust is a new play about Arcangela Tarabotti, dust (made of Skin and Salt), and a trans Disabled lacemaker named Early.
ARCANGELA TARABOTTI: An angel; made of several; the following:
ARCANANGELA: The spirit of Arcangela Tarabotti, a disabled Venetian woman. 1604-1652. She was a writer, an involuntary nun, and a negotiant for lacemakers and their clients. Arcangela resides in the celestial plane
SKIN: Dust: of body. One wing of Arcangela. Some skin, not all of it. A hybrid creature residing between the celestial and the tangible, the living and the not living.
SALT: Dust: of ocean, food, and body. One wing of Arcangela. All salt, from all time. A hybrid creature between the celestial and the tangible, the ocean and the human.
EARLY: Trans Disabled lacemaker. Engaged in an artistic practice of lace, dance, and pain. They reside in the tangible plane, except for moments when they are taken out of standard time, into Crip Time, where they meet with SKIN and SALT.
