Butchery Lessons is a new play following a failed pastry chef and child of 9/11, Jo, through the underworld of New York’s culinary scene as she struggles with impending ill fate, inadequacy, and one recurring nightmare. Fired from her baking job, Jo begins seeing a sadistic therapist, starts serving at a Michelin Star restaurant, obsesses over her brilliant boss, abuses every drug in the medicine cabinet, and rejects the help of everyone around her, as she struggles to face a hard truth she's been hiding from us and from herself. Opinionated, unfiltered, and terrible at her job, it soon becomes clear to Jo that in order to move forward, she has to confront her past.

With language at once lyrical and crassly modern, horror and humor bleed into every interaction in Butchery Lessons, exploring self-destruction, addiction, death, sex, culinary arts… sex within the culinary arts, self-loathing, self-love, and the question of forgiveness.
