Shivani Badgi presents "Shringarik Lavani", an immersive dance show that travels back to Maharashtra in the 1600s.

Lavani is a folk style from Maharashtra, India which is characterized by themes of romance and social commentary. You can hear the dancers ghungroos (ankle bells) with the sounds of the Dholki (drum) and Manjira (small cymbals) in the music. The dancer is draped in a 9 yard long sari called a "Nauvari". In the 1600s it was a dance style meant to entertain villagers through a show called "Tamasha" and traveling troupes.

"Shringarik Lavani" will show you fast rhythms, energetic dancing, powerful poetry in both Marathi and English languages, and storytelling that spans from comedic to contemplative. The dancer entrances her audience by taking them on a journey through playful love, deep romance, heartbreak, and devotion.
