Notes on Collagen

November 15 @ 9:30 PM

Written and Performed by FABIANA MATTEDI
Directed by: Sandie Luna
Art & Social Creative Director: Nalu Romano
Line Producer: Covi Loveridge Brannan

What begins as a casual moment on a Brooklyn subway spirals into a comic and heartfelt reckoning with beauty, aging, and identity. Notes on Collagen is the debut solo show from Brazilian actress and writer Fabiana Mattedi, a middle-aged immigrant woman who finds herself unexpectedly unraveling the illusions of confidence and security that society promises through youth and appearance.
In this storytelling-based one-woman show, Mattedi blends sharp humor with poignant self-reflection as she interrogates the paradoxes of beauty — its power and its poison, its promise and its price. From the pressures of “aging gracefully” to the subtle violence of societal expectations, Notes on Collagen invites audiences to laugh, think, and confront the invisible forces that shape how we see ourselves — and each other.
Lending sharp humor with raw honesty, Notes on Collagen is a first-person meditation on the invisible "rules" we live by — and the high cost of chasing an illusion. Poignant, biting, and unexpectedly funny, this one-woman show dares to ask: what happens when we stop trying to preserve ourselves, and start claiming ourselves instead?
