PIESEXUAL

  • The Tank 312 West 36th Street, First Floor New York, NY 10018 United States (map)

PIESEXUAL explores the delicious, messy and projectile nature of being queer, mostly female and seriously into pie. Ingredients include acrobatics, music, irreverence, red noses and copious amounts of flour. After being force fed heteronormativity, capitalism and overpriced bandannas every queer needs some bite-sized moments of love, shadow, surprise and sweet sweet joy.

This queer clown show is a messy, absurd and fun-filled explosion of gender performance and queer sexuality - all through the lens of that favorite American treat, PIE!

About The Artists

Julie Moore is a queer clown, actor and artivist originally from Wilmington, DE. She found clowning as a way to synthesize her love of performing and her total impatience with rule-following. Her work strives to be sweetly subversive, illustrating the ability of comedy to dismantle systems of power. She is a graduate of Headlong Performance Institute, the Academia dell’arte and Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre. Her work was featured at the CrisisArt Festival in Arezzo, Italy and Elsewhere museum in North Carolina.

Ania Upstill is a theater maker who recently discovered clowning at Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre and fell in love. Before attending Dell'Arte she spent six years in New Zealand, directing, producing and performing. She is passionate about queer representation on stage and creating more work that tells queer stories.

This show is being produced as part of The Tank's annual PrideFest 2018!
