Rule of 7x7

7 playwrights. 7 rules. 7 new plays. 1 night only.

Started in January 2013, The RULE OF series invites two playwrights to create brand new plays each adhering to the same set of regulations. (Sample rule from Rule of 7: "A letter"; Sample rule from Rule of 10: "A monologue about Blackfish").

Now in its fifth incarnation, we're changing things up a bit. Instead of readings of two new plays, you'll get seven! For $7! At 7pm!

Followed by an amazing after-party hosted by the Tank! At 9pm!

The playwrights are: CHIARA ATIK, BRETT EPSTEIN, DAN McCABE, ABBY ROSEBROCK, CHRISTOPHER SULLIVAN, STEPHANIE SWIRSKY and JORDAN SWISHER.

The rules each ten-minute play must follow are:

RULE #1: Somewhere within pages 7-10, a character must repeat a line that ANOTHER character has said within pages 1-4.

RULE #2: Bright sunshine.

RULE #3: At least five years pass between the start and end of the play.

RULE #4: A character has to be concerned with the taking or selecting of a new Facebook picture at some point during the play.

RULE #5: A character must have the name of a Rule of 7x7 playwright.

RULE #6: On page 4, a character gives a brief speech about masturbation.

RULE #7: "If [any celebrity, historical figure, great artist or author] were standing here right now, what do you think [s]he would say about what you just did?" (Feel free to paraphrase.)
