Flow State is a contemporary music ensemble that defies categorization, fusing classical, jazz and rock idioms to produce a sound that is polished yet ever-changing. Ben Brody founded the group in 2013 as a derivation of his EP of solo guitar music of the same name. The EP Flow State generated buzz throughout the modern, psychedelic, and new-music scenes, and was featured on WNYC's program New Sounds Listeners Poll top 10 best releases of 2013. Shortly after the release of the EP, Brody teamed up with bassist Nick Lenchner to form the ensemble which includes saxophonists Bill Todd and Alison Shearer; electric keyboardist Jonathan Evers. Flow State has had a number of noteworthy performances and collaborations, including the premier of my "Three Episodes for Orchestra" with The Chelsea Symphony. Their performance at Mister Rogers Studio, presented by The Hoover Dam Collective, was described as “undeniably captivating”-(Event Source Connection) Flow State is excited for its future projects, particularly those that connect its ethos to current events.
