Hungry Like the Wolf is a provocative, highly-charged play chock-full of dark comedy and sharp satire that draws an astute portrait of the more shameful parts of America.
On a broken- down bus outside of Victorville California, a bus driver and his diverse group of passengers attempt to entertain themselves as they wait for a replacement in the heat of the desert.
Mundane conversations become deliciously uncomfortable cross-examinations as each passenger defends their need to get to Los Angeles. Polite double-talk evaporates in the heat and larger cultural issues at play turn the bus into a crucible as the passengers explore their differences with daring intimacy. A radio contest seems to unite them, but accidentally exposes the identity of a woman on the run. The showdown between the passengers explodes the carefully constructed powder-keg that is both excruciating and savagely funny. The jolting shift of their reality from a waiting game to a scramble to survive, extracts pus from the festering wound that is American politics.
