MEET THE COMPANIES
Gotham Dance Theater (GDT), founded in 2015 by Marc Nuñez, is dedicated to producing art with social purpose and truly representing the diverse cultures that reside in New York City. GDT is a contemporary and street dance company that creates performance art through devised dance theatre. Themes covered include the challenges of language barrier for immigrants, the socio-economic inequities of experiencing death, and the societal struggles in a white-heterosexual-male dominated world. The GDT aesthetic is a blend of Nuñez's professional dance career from concert dance (Donald McKayle's Etude Ensemble, BARE Dance Company, Entity Contemporary Dance Company) to musical theatre (Peter Pan, Newsies) to commercial dance (Rihanna, Todrick Hall, Common Ground). Storytelling is at the forefront. Street to contemporary dance is the medium, as we maintain our mission. GDT is based in Queens, NYC.
Founded, directed, and choreographed by Candace Brown, Soul Project Dance Company is a collective of unique, captivating, and exceptional artists who use movement to tell stories, inspire audiences, and uplift souls. Soul Project is a home for us to dance, explore movement, find support, and stretch our artistry to new levels. This company is a platform for exceptional dancers to shine, motivate, and inspire the artistic community as a whole.
