What if Broad City were made in a bunker? You’d get what may be the first ever coronavirus quarantine sit-com and talk show: The Social Distance is a web series that finds humor in the darkness that was New York City in March-May 2020. Julian was sent home from study-abroad in Spain, Quentin got stuck in New York, and Julians’ dads Michael and Lorin welcomed them into their home. Some call what follows a comedy...others call it a coping mechanism. Either way, this 7-episode web series full of puppets, original songs, and espionage offers high intensity, low stakes drama and too many jokes about Governor Cuomo. Enjoy!
Julian Shapiro-Barnum: Julian Shapiro-Barnum is an actor, writer, filmmaker, and puppeteer from Brooklyn going into his senior year at Boston University's acting conservatory. With a strong background in improv comedy, theater, and muppet style puppetry, Julian seeks to use those tools to tastefully create comedy out of anything he can. Even a global pandemic.
Quentin Nguyen-duy: Quentin Nguyen-duy is a New York based actor and playwright with a BFA in Theatre Arts from Boston University. Past credits include: VIETGONE (Quang) at Company One, AMERICAN HWANGAP (Ralph Chun) at Interlochen Shakespeare Festival, and TWELFTH NIGHT (Orsiono) Oberlin College. Michael H. Williams: When Michael WIlliams isn't demonstrating his abysmal acting abilities for his son's webseries, Michael Williams devotes his time and energy to various nonprofit organizations. Since 2007, he has been General Counsel of Safe Horizon, the nation's leading victim service organization, whose mission is to provide support, prevent violence, and promote justice for victims of crime and abuse, their families and communities. He is also Board Chair of New York Peace Institute, which provides free community-based conflict resolution services in New York City, as well as Board Chair of a new nonprofit called Cuala Foundation, Inc.
