About the Event

About District Lines
District Lines is about Lower East Side barkeep Don being asked to run a shell campaign for Congress so a 3rd party can swoop in and win. It's a real look at local political campaigns, complete with the oddballs and weirdos who actually run our political machines. It's Cheers meets the West Wing.
Asher Novek is a writer, producer, storyteller, and community activist. He is the founder of HeartGov (www.heartgov.com), an SMS based platform designed to connect local government and communities. He also produces a monthly storytelling show in Park Slope, "So What Happened Was", and will perform an experimental storytelling show at The Tank in October. Follow him @ashernovek.
PATRIETTES is a new musical comedy television project about a mock state government summer camp program for rising high school senior girls. Those honored with the nomination to attend Junior Patriette Model State compete for college scholarships by running for office in a high stakes simulated state government experience - singing and cheering required. This hour long dramedy featuring original pop songs highlights the most cutthroat kind of politics – high school politics, while focusing on what it means for a young woman to give voice to her beliefs.

Kristen SaBerre is a television writer, blogger, editor, and career advisor living in Los Angeles. She is a member of the WGA and freelance writer for VH1s hit scripted drama series Hit the Floor (Kimberly Elise, Dean Cain). Kristen has contributed creatively to and worked in writers rooms on various television pilots and series including ABCs Nashville (Connie Britton, Chip Estin), Missing (Ashley Judd, Sean Bean), and No Ordinary Family (Michael Chiklis, Julie Benz). Her writing portfolio covers a wide scope of projects including women in power, diversity, history, science & medicine, and high concept world building. Before focusing on writing, Kristen worked on the editorial side of many commercials (Volkswagen, Visa, Virgin Australia) and music videos (Beyonce, Grizzly Bear, Yeah Yeah Yeahs). As a career advisor, Kristen is passionate about helping educate those interested in beginning careers in entertainment and writing.
Born in New Orleans and raised in Alabama, Kristen migrated north to attend Brown University with her Girls State teammates EllaRose Chary, Anne Troup, and Betsy Rosenbloom. After college she headed west to embark on her career in Entertainment and has been writing since.
Anne Troup is an actor, producer and director based in NYC. Her earliest collaboration with EllaRose Chary and Kristen SaBerre was at Brown University with the production of the Brownbroker’s musical, MOON MARY. Although she did not attend Girls State and has no plans to run for political office, Anne does intend to lead the world with the creation of female focused comedic content.
Betsy Rosenbloom is a comedy producer and writer. She is the Associate Producer of the upcoming Universal Pictures feature film SISTERS starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and written by Paula Pell. She also wrote and produced the film’s 2nd Unit shoot. Betsy has worked with Director Jason Moore since 2011, starting with the hit movie PITCH PERFECT, continuing through ABC Television’s TROPHY WIFE, and most recently the blockbuster sequel PITCH PERFECT 2. Betsy co-created the concept, wrote the script and co-produced the music video for “Cups” by Anna Kendrick, a platinum single from Pitch Perfect’s chart-topping soundtrack. At ABC Television’s SUPER FUN NIGHT, Betsy created and produced the “Don’t Stop Me Now” music video promotional campaign, as well as additional musical performance numbers and music videos. Previously, Betsy worked with Director Greg Mottola on Aaron Sorkin’s NEWSROOM and Larry David’s CLEAR HISTORY, both at HBO. Prior to that, she worked as a writers’ assistant on several television dramas with alarmingly high ratios of dead bodies to episodes produced.
Betsy has a degree in Anthropology from Brown University and has studied television writing at UCLA and improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade. Her parents tell her it is still not too late for Med School, though less frequently than they used to.
Originally from a picturesque seaside town in Massachusetts, Betsy now resides in landlocked West Hollywood. She shares her life and her heart with a standard poodle named Bogie.
