(no)man is a rollercoaster running through joy, grief, community, and the battle between belonging and impermanence. IMGE’s newest dance production speaks to the urgency of compassion across experiences. Though we walk these different realities through a (no)man’s land, we are ultimately subject to the same fate. The piece is presented as a series of vignettes in an intertwined story, featuring chapters: (no)mad, (co)habit, (ex)otic, (wo)man, e(man)cipation, (end), (con)vice, heart(beat), (no)man’s land. These chapters are woven through multicultural movement spanning Bharatanatyam, hip hop, Mayurbhanj chhau, and contemporary dance. IMGE’s signature dynamic style in combination with global rhythms and expressive theater creates an immersive evening questioning who gets to be included and excluded in this borrowed space and time.
